Remote trigger for digital camera
In the days of 35mm cameras, in order to avoid shake, you could use a remote cable. This was also very handy if you wanted to use a camera in a hide to photograph wildlife.
With digital cameras, you now have a delay (self-timer) feature, typically 2 or 10 seconds. However, this really doesn't help if you have a camera on a tripod in the garden. I believe that some more expensive cameras also have an IR remote capability and Amazon have them for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony & Olympus. Any suggestions as to alternative smaller and cheaper digital cameras with a remote trigger capability? I am particularly keen on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 because of its incredibly wide focal length range except for this missing feature.

I got one off ebay for my 5D for about 2 quid. Not a lot to say about them really, they do the job and even when they are cheap and plasticy, it doesn't make a lot of difference.
It's obviously going to depend on the camera having the right socket for one though. |
