Shame that it's such a lump. The Xbox was large - the PS3 is even bigger. At least it was easier to put other items on top of the xbox.

I'm leaning towards the Panasonic at the moment. Even through the Sony is so much cheaper. Can also get both region free *dvd wise* quite easily though.

If disk playback is all you are after then i would certainly go for the Panasonic, they're probably my favorite hardware manufacturer out there, never had an item break.

If you think you'd take advantage of the PS3s media center capabilities such as AVI/MP4 playback, Play TV etc, then it's worth considering, if not certainly a stand alone unit is the way to go.

The Panasonic would get my vote. I'm not a fan of Sony stuff at the best of times but my brother has the BD35 and it does the job very nicely.

Kidding right?

How is the best out there?

(Serious question BTW)

Edit: I've just read your reason and I've also read the responses.

So not really the best BD player

Take away the games aspect, the PS3 is not the best BD player out there.

1 - It's not multi-region for DVD or anyway making it multi-region through a remote hack
2 - It's not the quietest of machines
3 - It's not the most elegant (matter of personal opinion)
4 - You can't stack it under something
5 - There is no remote free with it (joy pad doesn't count)
6 - It's £100 more than a S350 and a Panasonic BD35

7 -

Yeah I just saw on Play for £290 with 2 games, a BD and a BD remote.

Anyway, enough of that, as it's off topic really

In terms of laser it definitely used to have the highest quality model, I'm not sure whether this is still the case. As a BD player it's the only one out there that plays BD-Roms and BD-Games, ergo it is the best as it plays more than anything else .

*I think I've dug myself out of that hole*

Fixed, with the question still hanging in the ether.
