Measuring distances using google maps?
I need to work out some distances using Google maps but I can't find a way to do it. Is there a tool that will allow one to draw a track on a map and get a distance reading?

If you have the post codes of both locations you could try getting a route between the 2 and that should give distance.
I believe you can then move the route around to suit. If you want straight line distance then no idea sorry

Google Earth lets you draw a path and gives the length of the path in virtually any unit you could possibly want.

mapmywalk did the job perfectly, Mark's link plotted straight lines and I don't have google earth installed.
So mapmywalk it is. Appropriately, it was for a walk this evening
