The most important thing is your diet. You are never going to lose weight unless you take in fewer calories than you are burning off. Exercising burns off calories, but you must make sure that you are eating right.
Do you eat breakfast? Clichés aside, it really is the most important day, especially if you're trying to lose weight, it gets your metabolism going for the day, so that you burn off calories faster. When you aren't eating your metabolism slows, so as soon as you wake up in the morning you need to break your fast (gettit?) to get your body burning off those cals. I can see that your diet is going to be restrictive, but try and eat three meals a day, and reduce snacking. If, like me, you can't live without snacking, get something decent and low cal to snack on, like a rice cake or fruit. Having pizza once a week is fine, we all need to live a little. |

There is no way you are going to lose any weight eating that and you certainly won't have any energy to go to the gym. I would very strongly suggest you get your diet sorted before you even think about going to the gym. As Ben said, you HAVE to get some breakfast down your neck, even if it's a piece of fruit or some yoghurt, make sure you get some lunch and then a nice dinner. Try and cut down on the fizzy drinks and take in more water, try to get some vegetables in you. Pizza once a week, once you've sorted the rest of it, would be no problem at all Give it a go, make some changes .. I'm here to help in any way I can. |

I don't think my food problems are going to go away without help. My diet is utterly awful. I'm going to speak to the doctor about being referred to a nutritionist and go from there.

Admitting there is a problem to be sorted out is the first step along the road - just please don't make the mistakes I made (trying to do too much too soon and/or expecting too much too soon).
My diet needs sorting too. Trying a few different things now and then but like you I have problems that complicate things. Good luck and hope things get better for you. |

You know you've got help here Paula for when you need it
Changing your diet is hard at first. Note I said changing your diet and not going ona diet. This should be a long term change to how you eat and not a short term diet change. As already said, breakfast is a very important meal. Without it, your body thinks it's not getting fed and will want to hold on to any energy reserves it can, so stores it as fat (in very simple terms). I never used to eat breakfast so I know it feels odd at first but start off with something small and build your way up. Eventually you'll stat feeling hungry and actually start wanting and needing food in the morning. I used to have very patchy food intake throughout the day but if you force yourself a little, it becomes easier and then a necessity and you'll find this for all of your meals in the day. Over the years I've gone from no breakfast, lunches at different times of the day and an evening meal to a good breakfast same time every morning, mid-morning snack, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, dinner, mid-evening snack. It can be done, it just takes a little time to train your body and get used to it
