Alternative suggestion: Install the FasterFox add on, then be nice to web hosts by switching it to RFC compatible mode.

Is there a new version of that anywhere?
I had it and it got disabled because it's not compatible with FF3, or at least one of the subsequent releases.

Hmmm. I guess there is vaguely a chance I bypassed the disable messages as I'm oft inclined to do (registered people can). Nevertheless, it's working fine

There is a version (2.0.0 - April 20th 2009) of FasterFox that claims to work with Firefox v3 HERE; personally, I haven't tried it; at the moment, I am quite content with the "off-the-shelf" Firefox + NoScript, AdBlock & the British English Dictionary
