And here's the moon taken using a Canon Digital Ixus 400 pointing through the left lens of a pair of Pentax 10x24 binoculars.

I think the chromatic aberration on that picture actually adds to the coolness of it, Feek

Ooh, timely resurrection.
I did that once with a Sony P200 through Pentax 12x50s, with similar results. However, I also did this tonight - both 100% crops Old camera (S3): New camera (450D + 70-300 IS): Very pleased with that, though it might not be on quite the best settings (stopping down a bit might help). No, it wasn't the reason I got the new camera, but yes, as I said earlier, it was one of the first things I intended to try with it. I'll have another go in a week if the weather co-operates, though I rather like the craters which you don't get with a full moon. Last edited by Mark; 31-05-2009 at 01:02. |

Had another go tonight but I actually prefer the first attempt (more craters). Might have a go at running the RAW file through DPP (the ones I posted above are straight from camera lossless crops).
While I was out (round the back of my block of flats), I could have sworn I saw a badger, which was rather unexpected. Knowing my eyesight I could very well have been wrong and it was just someone's pet, but I'll probably never know now. Sadly there's no way I'd have got the camera swung around and reset in time, and it was almost certainly too dark anyway. Last edited by Mark; 02-06-2009 at 00:16. |
