Oh, I know. My dad and my brother (and now his son) have all owned Samurais. They're wonderful little trucks, but after the Jeep it's like going from a Jaguar XJS to a Fiat Punto. From V-8 climate controlled leather goodness to a tiny little 4 banger straining its guts out to maintain 65mph. And in the process bouncing me all over hell's half acre. It's all a little snobish of me, but I think you know what I'm saying.

I truly am envious of you with the Landy. I'd give my left testicle for one. But they're ungodly expensive over here.

Bought me Fluids yesterday, 15 litres of it & an Oil filter for 43 quid, I'll be dumping out the diffs/gearbox oil & renewing it & changing the engine oil & filter first thing in the morning.
I'm planning on going to a Pay & Play over Ashby de la zouch (sp?) on Sunday so changing all the fluids gives it half a chance of lasting the day.
Of course I'll be bringing back some pics to post & I'll try my best to get some vid action.
I can't wait.

Anybody interested in coming can find the place on Google maps after visiting this link to get the details.
http://www.3ds4x4.co.uk/3.html
I've spied a water hole there so it looks like I'll be taking the Landy for it's First swim.

Directions.
From the A42 Junction 13 (Ashby de la Zouch, Leics)follow the signs for Lount. As you approach the site entrance there are chevrons in the centre of the road, turn right into the site and follow the track to the top.

Place is only about 20-25 minute drive from me but I can't really tell what the terrain is like on Google maps, Only 20 quid though & like I say I am gagging to have a play.

Round the back of the tip by the look of it (the tip is a hundred yards further on, on the same side). I live in Ashby, I'll keep an eye out for you (although I'm staying in Leicester on Sat night, and will almost certainly be hung over on Sunday, so may not be out much, lol.

If you need somewhere to eat, carry on the way you are going, past the tip and on into Lount, there is a cheap and cheerful "2for1" pub/restaurant on the left. Maybe half a mile from where you would turn off to go to the 4x4 place.

Check this out then.

So it took me around 25 minutes to get there this morning & I was first there, I paid my 20 quid & told the Dude that I would be taking it easy as I had just got the Landy 2 weeks ago, Sure he said Enjoy yourself.
I wandered off around some rutts which the Landy took in it's stride & then I came across this BIG hole full of muddy water, Without hesitation I dropped in, Got a part way across it & me Landy died.
The Landy filled up with water up to my seat/knees it was Ace. This is me standing/crouching on the seat to get my batty out the water.

We seem to have had a small leak in the back as well.

This was the view out my window which I climbed out of & on to the wing, Then the bonnet, I slung a line across & hooked up the winch off the disco bottom shot & they dragged me out. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Not so fast !!! I turned the engine over & it just locked up.
So I tells the dudes I know **** all about Landys & they advised me, In short I popped the glow plugs out & turned it over shooting water out the head, Then I took the pipes off & drained the water out, The bottom of the cvooler was at such an angle the water was trapped. I had to take a pipe off the motor & use it as a straw sucking the muddy water into my mouth & spitting it out. + (You may have to read that again to take that in )
So just as I was putting her back together my mates turned up Laughing.
I cranked her over & she started first ******** time for ***** sake.
So I let her tick over & then got back to it, Had a good few hours in the rutts & wandering around the site, Kin Perfect day.
I learnt a Heck of a lot today & came back Beaming.

The Guys from 3DS4x4 laughed saying "I thought you were taking it easy, Can't wait to see you going for it"

Gorgeous, Glorious Mud & Nathan Proper going for it, He takes No prisoners does Nathan.

Nathan entering the Pit of Death.

Stuck !!!

Got the Bob Tail tugging him out from the rear.

Here's the Bob tail, I should have got a better pic of it as it looks Great. Two tiny Young'uns in it.

3DS4x4 Disco, The Lads were Great, Winching me out, Lending me tools, Giving advice, Top Blokes who really look after you.

All in all a Fantastic day Off roading, I tested myself & my Landy to the point of Fail, I learnt a lot about my Landy & how to fix it & we bonded. When she fired up again for me it was like a Marriage.
