I want the Alien quadrilogy on bluray so much it hurts - going to be an epic box set when it finally appears.

To be fair - the 'extended' cut of Alien3 is pretty good. Shame they wanted to make money with the franchise rather than make a good film.
Resurrection is utter turd though. I currently have little to no hope of this being anywhere near as good as Alien/Aliens

The Directors Cut of Alien 3 is far superior to the cinema release that's for sure. However there's two directors cuts out there, the real one and one charading as the directors cut. The real directors cut still includes the scene where the alien bursts out of the dogs stomach, whereas the 'fake' has replaced the dog with a dead cow! This was done to appease animal rights freaks as seeing a dog 'die' off screen (the actual bursting scene moment was just displayed by a splat of blood on the wall) was apparently far worse than seeing dozens of humans get cut to pieces. Sadly this neutered directors cut is the one present in the quadrilogy boxset, i think i still have a VHS of what i consider the real directors cut.

Neither are the directors cuts though. The director had no involvement with them - thats why it's called the extended cut.
David Fincher essentially did the filming then walked away form the project due to all the studio interference. As for the cow... that was in the script rather than the dog.

I just can't get excited despite being a massive fan of the original Alien film.
I hope I am proved wrong.
