What sort of attractions are you thinking of? When me and the little lady went in March, the only things we paid for were the Eiffel Tower and the Looooourve and they weren't very expensive. One tip: if you are going on the Eurostar and need Metro tickets, don't queue up at the counters/machines at the station. Go into one of the shops and get a Carnet (book of ten tickets). Either that or walk everywhere which is much nicer.

http://www.discount-paris.com/
but to be honest once you arrive there are plenty of handouts.

Buses and Metro system are cheap and easy.

Are you travelling by air or train?

We are flying from Luton, and the hotel is fairly central.
I have had a look at some of the attractions on line and they did seem expensive !
Also eating out is expensive as well !

We just would like to go to the normal attractions, ie the top 10 of Paris, plus I am hoping to go to the Catacombs, and perhaps a little river cruise as well !
So any help on deals will be great.
Many thanks

Paris is expensive. I can't really help out with recommendations because I spend as little time as possible in the city. Though I'd recommend Bowfinger for dinner. Expensive but fantastic.

Save yourself a few € on travel when you're there and take the train into Paris from CdG Airport. If you're flying from Luton I assume you're flying Easyjet? From the arrivals area at Terminal 2 (2B I think?) turn left and follow the signs for CdGVAL - the train that runs between the terminals.

Go to Terminal 3, walk upstairs and you can get the train from there. All the ticket machines (at least the ones that I've used) can be switched to English.

I'll be doing that journey tomorrow afternoon.

Tyson, your are travelling to one of the top desitinations in Europe so yes, it's going to be expensive.

I hate CdG .. I always get lost one way or another. The RER B line line runs directly into city centre from terminal 2. However, I used to get the Roissy bus which is around €8 now and takes about 45-50 minutes and runs every 15 minutes. This was better for me as the Bank I worked for was right opposite the stop. I think they only run between certain hour between 6 and 11 iirc.

When I worked there I did tend to eat out of the main tourist area and the company I worked for had an excellent free restaurant and a 2 hour lunch break

However, for most people Paris is a once in a life time trip so maybe worth bashing the plastic a bit. I think any major city in Europe is going to be expensive mostly due to the GBP/EUR rate. We found this in Barcelona this year. €5 for a beer was a lot cheaper a year ago than €5 today.

As for getting around, I used to just walk around and get lost.. I took Teresa back for our first wedding anniversary but had the benefit of knowing my way around.. not sure I'd remember now

We are on an organised trip to Paris, so we do not wish to do the excursions as they are expensive witht the tour company.
We mainly always do our own thing for visting attractions, and yes Paris is a top desitination which means lots of tourist areas to get hit with high prices.
Can not really bash the plastic as we have alot of things to pay for that are coming up soon ! ! !
As for drink, well we will hit a super market for cheap drink and then drink in the hotel room and then have 1 maybe 2 drinks in a s****y bar some where !
We still wish to try and visit as much of Paris as possible ! !
