Found money
Got into work this morning and my dad told me he had found my Halifax building society book which stated there was £155 in the account. He had brought the book in and the slip of paper with the internet login details was still there (I know, I know, stupidist idea I ever had) so I logged on and lo and behold there is £160 in my account
I had managed to make a whole £5 odd worth of interest since October 2004, money will now be withdrawn and put somewhere with a better interest rate than 0.10% Just really gutted I never knew about this otherwise I would have done this a lot sooner. Anyone else had something similar happen? |

Yeah, sort of. I got given some shares by my company in 2001 and then promptly forgot about them. In 2006/2007 I found them while going through a drawer and discovered they were now worth well over £20k.
I'd got myself too far into debt at the time and I can tell you that was some save - even after the tax man got himself a sizeable chunk. Had I been able to keep them, they would be worth 2-3x that now, but much as I'd have really appreciated that money now I really can't complain - money for nothing and all that. |

I had an Egg credit card when I was about 20 and living at home. Fast forward 11 years and I wondered if I ever closed the account so I tried to log in. The details were with an email address I don't remember having and the account was still open. Without jumping to too many conclusions my parents house was split into a Nigerian refuge home when it was sold so imagine my surprise when I found that no illegal activity had occurred on the account

I saw the thread title and was about to say "It's mine!"
Closest I've come is unscrewing the lid off a can of Castrol GTX and winning £1,000.

Argh why can't stuff like that happen to me? I did do quite well out of the Christmas giveaway stuff at Apple. Make a sale go in a draw type thing. First year got posh printer worth £100 (I'd been there about 10 days) second year got some Sennheiser headphones worth £169 (Well £169 in the Apple Store, probably £130 everywhere else but mustn't grumble )

I've got an old Halifax account, I'm sure of it. Will wait until I'm 65 and then see if there's any money in there
