Does anyone know or can find the taste characteristics between deer
Muntjac, Roe, Red, Fallow, Chinese water deer

My general theory on meat is the cuter looking the animal the better it tastes. This is why things like ducks and rabbits taste so good. So line them up in order of aesthetics and take it from there.

Have you got a chance to have a go at all of those then?

Unfortunately not got to pick one for my Christmas dinner (5th of December). that's just what certain online firms offer.

yep cute does indeed = tasty. I like to think of it as bamby rather than vension.

I can't really comment on the differences much really, between specific types. Only to say that the Venison I normally get is wild red deer. It's more of a fresh taste and not so strong a flavour. It' not hung for terribly long, just a few days.

That's how I prefer it, I've had Bambi bangers that were just too strong for me.

I had some venison sausages yesterday from M&S, it taste like minced internal organs rather than meat off the body.
