Default Well this is exciting

*bang bang bang bang*
Half asleep
*bang bang bang bang*
Dammit
*bang bang bang bang*
I'm coming (damn you)
*bang bang bang bang*
Door opens.....

It's the police, can we come inside?
Yeah

My bloody neighbour has left his oven on and has filled his flat with gas! One click of the boiler and boom! Currently sat in the motor with the electric seats on defrosting. Stupid stupid git. So much for my first good nights sleep in ages.

It's scary just how easy it could have gone the other way.

Yeah

Surely the more appropriate greeting would be "It's the police, GTFO!"

It may not have been the best way to wake up, but at least you've woken up!

That's frightening - could so easily have gone very wrong! Glad you're OK even if you are a little tired. I assume the neighbour must have contacted someone otherwise how else would they have found out.

I'm scared of gas cookers for this very reason - took me several years to convince myself it was OK to have gas at all. None of this helps if it's the neighbours appliance, however.

Crikey! That could have been seriously bad news! Glad it all got sorted. Is it safe to go back in? Have they sorted it?

I nearly blew up the street once due to a gas leak.....

Marchants Mum had been away with him over one Christmas, and I was living at my parents then. She rang and asked if I would go and put the heating on so that when they got home the house would be warm. I was about to leave to go and do it when she rang again and said due to the bad weather, they had decided to stay another night and not to bother.

When she got home the next day, turned out she had left the gas hob on by mistake for the whole week she had been away, and the house had been filling up with gas.....problem is, I have no sense of smell, so whilst she smelt it as soon as she walked in, I wouldn't have, and as soon as I went to flick the light switch on, the gasboard (who were called out to check things) said that due to the fact it had been on for a week, I probably would have taken out half the street when I turned on the light.

I might never have made it here to annoy you lot!

Update for you all, I tried putting up another post on my mobile, but it was having none of it. We were allowed back in after a couple of hours with the windows wide open. After then I had a good kip and not long been up.

They were hesitating about kicking the door down to next door. The coppers were saying that they had to go through landlord etc before knocking it down. I said I knew a few coppers who would disagree and said it was unusual for Manc police to not kick the door down first

Thinking back it probably wasn't the best idea to take the mick as they were both 6ft+ build like brick houses. They did eventually kick it in with their size 11's.

Oh well, bit of sleep lost is nothing compared to not being blown up and seeing the girl opposite in her night dress Flippin eck

edit:-
Should add they asked to come in first as the gas man wasn't there yet and they were trying to work out where it was coming from. Once he arrived and used his little unit we were booted out.
