Converting MKV files to MP4 or M4V
I'm trying to convert some MKV files to MP4 or M4V using Handbrake so I can watch them on my iPod. The MKV files play fine in VLC player but when I convert them to MP4 or M4V the sound goes stuttery and I'm not sure what to do about it.
In Handbrake under Audio and Subtitles I have the option to change the audio codec, mixdown, samplerate, bitrate and DRC, but these mean little to me. Anyone got any ideas?

Are you using the iPod preset in Handbrake? I've encoded a couple of the Ren & Stimpy episodes for my iPod classic and they play fine.

Yes, but mine is a nano so I go with the 320px wide setting. Lets see if the bigger ones play...

I think my Handbrake installation was fubbed. I uninstalled, Ccleanered, re-downloaded and reinstalled and it seems to be fine now. I had 0.9.4 installed but it looked like 0.9.2 for some reason.

If the problem returns its worth trying MKV2VOB, you are able to select MP4 as an output format.
