Default Google Chrome

Bloody stupid program, got a new laptop yesterday and installed chrome and synched the bookmarks from the older one. All was well until I decided to clean the old laptop, got rid of the bookmarks so if anyone else wants to use it they aren't all there, only problem is that I lost them all from the new laptop. Foolishly I had opened Chrome after deleting the bookmarks and thus there is now no way of recovering them as Google didn't bother with a bookmarks trash bin I had also uninstalled Firefox a while back and cleared the preferences and cache so I can't recover them that way.

Just trying to remember them all off the top of my head and struggling. Going to have to make sure I keep a backup of them at all times now.

ooo. bad chrome. normally I have nothing but praise for it but thats bad!

Which is why I also sync with X-Marks from time to time. It has much more in the way of 'prefs' and allows you to assign categories to a machine's bookmarks so you can for example sync your Work and Home computers separately. I believe its also available for all browsers now also - worth a look.

I'm surprised just how much of Chrome seems to use Google servers. No mention of it installing updates yet regularly I find the interface has changed slightly.

Didn't know that included bookmarks though.

I think the non major updates sort themselves out.

No third party service is a substitute for backing up your own data dude. Nowt wrong with using them for convenience, but if it's important then it's better to take responsibility for it yourself.

Trouble is I think everyone learns that the hard way

Why is it Chrome's fault? A 2 way sync is a 2 way sync, ie, changes mirror each other.

Because I didn't want to blame myself for being a bit special and not realising that
