Nikon D70s cha error

Just wondered if anyone has experienced the CHA error on a Nikon (in this case my D70s)

Its starting to happen more and more often

usually if I delete a couple of shots, the camera starts writing to the card again, but sometimes a format is the only way. This happens irrespective of card type and size and also irrespective of it being formatted in either the camera or through the PC.

Cant afford to upgrade, so would like to get to the bottom of things if I can

Just did a quick Google. Bent pin(s) in the card socket seem like a common cause, though likely not the only one.
