Default Which 3/4 length lycra running shorts?

I've been out buying lycra today

Actually, I found something ideal. I was looking for some lycra shorts or thermals to cover my thighs under my normal shorts for cycling and found North Face Lightning Capri 3/4 length shorts. They are perfect because they are the right length to go under my shorts and also cover my knees; but the downside? £40

Edit: these ones: http://ultratrail.thenorthface.com/en/gear/6/21

I didn't see anything else like them in any of the other shops. Does anyone else make them like that? Or is £40 just the going rate? I only say it because I picked up some full length Karrimors reduced to £10.99. I don't want padded cycling shorts because most of my commute is not on the bike, but 3/4 length is more useful to me than full length.

Yeah its all so expensive. I'd honestly wait until a sale, or Aldi and/or Lidl have one of their random bike sales. They'll sell lycra and shorts from £6-10 sometimes! And everything else related. Although saying that i bought some expensive large shorts with clippable lycra inserts and they're the best quality out of everything i own. Its a known fact you unfortunately generally do get what you pay for in most cases

I hadn't thought of Lidl, probably ideal for base layers and shorts.

Yeah I know what you mean about quality, but on the other hand it can be such a mixed bag. I don't mind paying the money if there isn't an alternative out there.

I'm the same, i'd rather take a chance on the "cheaper" stuff knowing most of it is produced the same. But i really do noticed the difference with my more expensive pair of shorts (maybe not base layers and lycra though).
