Putting music on an iPod without itunes

My brother is trying to put a CD onto a friends iPod who has never done it before, and has in the past been helped out by another friend who just "did it" (she doesn't know how)

My brother has an iTunes account for his phone, but can't use this for hers obviously. She doesn't currently have a computer.

Is there a way to get the CD onto her iPod without using iTunes. We tried to use my Mums laptop to download a fresh copy of iTunes, but then it said that this iPod is assigned to another iTunes account (something like that)
Can anyone help?

'Just doing it' simply requires telling iTunes not to automatically sync to that iPod (Sync options are in iTunes Preferences, or visible once the device is connected). If you manually drag the music to the iPod when it's plugged in, it should work (at least for non-protected stuff).

I used to use EphPod with my 3rd gen iPod back in the days when iTunes for windows wasn't available. No idea whether they bothered developing it to keep it compatible with the current hardware but it might be worth looking into.

Actually, once iTunes is installed, you could also use MediaMonkey to do the same job, but it's worth trying the iTunes way first as it's already installed.

MediaMonkey is the way forward, it can transfer music to iPods really easily, though I've not tried doing it straight from CD before. You may need to rip the CD to MP3s before you use MediaMonkey to transfer music across.

Shame MediaMonkey still needs the Apple mobile device support stuff from iTunes. I did dig that out of the full install though so I avoided the full bloat.

Winamp supports iPod syncing from what I remember.
