Default Yee Gods Vauxhall - key prices

Managed to snaffle an exchange on my umm Fiesta for a Vectra over the weekend (Fiesta was overdue for an MOT and upon a quick discussion it turned out they had an SRi they wanted moving on...so straight swap)
What I didnt know was....the keyfob for the alarm isnt working so now im annoying the neighbours everytime I get in the car (as the alarm goes nuts until the engine is running)

A) Vauxhall make you jump through hoops, dealing with non-existant codes
B) a new fob is a silly amount of money (and needs programming)
C) a new key is STUPID money (and needs programming)
D) I wish I understood Opcom / Tech 2 - so I could do it myself (and save lots of money )

That is all

Disconnect the Siren, The immobiliser & hazards will still work but there'll be no sound.

I paid £60 for a new key fob to work the central locking for my corsa as it had lost the program and when they tried to re-program it it didn't work.

Got it directly from Vauxhall, or are different cars different prices?

Had similar fun with my fob on the Omega..... £200 sir At that point I broke out the soldering iron & it was still working 18months later.

Tip to not arm the alarm:-
Open the rear passenger door.
Lock the drivers door from the inside (locking all doors bar the open one).
Lock the rear door and shut.

The car is now locked without the alarm armed and can be opened with the key without it going off. That is unless it is one of those crappy self arming ones. Try it and see

Thanks peeps

Still waiting on the V5 before I talk to Vauxhall about the decode, then bend over and wait for the pain

In the meantime, im using the dodgy way to lock the car....at least I dont draw attention to myself getting into it now, which....is nice
