I'm not into kung fu, or Cap'n Jack, but I've done similar. Jumped out of bed startled and heart pounding because I thought I saw someone, only to realise that there was nothing there. Not sure how but it looked like there was a shadowy figure in my mirror.
Going to turn the bedroom around this weekend to make sure that can't happen again.
