Humax problem
Got a problem on a Humax 9300T I don't seem to be able to find through Google. Every time we switch on we get a message prompt to rescan for channels and to do a full manual search. If you do a full manual scan (like the message says to) it doesn't clear the message at startup. It just keeps returning and we've done about 4 or 5 rescans now. I think it probably started doing it about 2 months ago when the other Freeview box said there were new channels, but is starting to get annoying now because doing a channel search wipes all our recording presets. Any ideas? Anything I've found about it is 2 or more years old and related to a software update which we've already had way back in the past.

I'd try their support line. From what I've heard, if you get the right person, they can be quite helpful.

Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Hadn't even considered they might bother to help actually

Oh, and it's probably a 'split NIT' problem, or close cousin thereof. More and more older boxes are getting gremlins as a result of technical changes to the network information table (tech-speak for 'list of channels'). There's nothing wrong with those changes if boxes implement the DVB-T standards correctly, but firmware developers like taking shortcuts, so most boxes don't. There might be a firmware update to fix it, or there might not.
Can you tell I've been burned? Though ironically by PC-based tuner software! Last edited by Mark; 27-09-2011 at 21:07. |

Happened to be browsing the OTA updates and there was one last night. Seems to have cured it. Bloody lucky to have spotted it when I did; otherwise it would have continued doing it for another year or so until they release the next update.
