The great car insurance joke - Yes, you've seen it all before
Had my insurance renewal come through the other day and thought I'd get a few new online quotes. Sinead and I have a multicar policy insuring our two cars with Admiral. The renewal came through at £653, a fair old increase on last year which I was expecting from what I've been hearing.
Now for the fun part....head over to confused.com and pop in our details as individual drivers. My part on our multicar policy is £383. My quote via confused.com? £270...with Admiral. Same for Sinead, her renewal part was £269 and new quote £249. Now add those together and you get £519 compared to £653. But bear in mind that the £519 is as individual quotes whereas the £653 is our multicar policy that is supposed to be cheaper. How on earth do they get away with these things? They're going to get an ear bashing later on

Because they know that a lot of people won't bother looking elsewhere and will just pay up.

Also remember to use Quidco, or TopCashBack and get another chunk of free money thrown your way each as well! It's all part of the game mate, most people are lazy/stupid/incompetent its a money spinner. I say long live it! Because the stupid/slow pay for my savings essentially, if it were "fair" to some extent we'd all pay more...

For once, my quote from Tesco who I've used for about 9 years was really good compared to everything else (they have always matched). RAC tried to match and came up with £120 more with their 10% off as a breakdown customer.
Rang Tesco up to complain anyway as a 'loyal customer' and got 5 quid off despite adding NCP (about £100 most places), business and 2k to the mileage Mine went up last year due to all the scams but it seems this year it's actually going down a little from what I've seen and ^^. |

Mine doubled last year. And Direct Line and Tesco, both of which used to supply competative quotes, suddenly wanted 3 or 4 times what I had paid for the previous year. No change in circumstances, just suddenly wanted to rape me for well over a grand, when I usually pay 300 odd. I was suprised, to say the least.

It's as bad as the energy companies, gas has gone up 3p so it's now the same as in 2008 but we're raising your rate 20p cause we only made 5% more than 2010 in 2011. Petrol anyone? |
