Default Gmail messages there one day, gone the next

Has anybody ever had any trouble with their Gmail showing as 'no emails to see here sir'?

Yesterday morning I got to work any I didn't have anything in my account. However the footer still said I was using 10% of my storage, so 1.5gb of emails are there, but I can't see them I guess.

Also I noticed last night a filter was there with no search term, and a 'skip inbox, delete' action on it. Not sure if thats a failed filter I setup (busy at work so can't remember exactly when things happen at the mo!!) because it was only sending emails I got yesterday to the bin until I deleted it!
But I don't think its anything malicious because the account access logs you can see are only showing my home IP & my ipad/phone.

I've filed a 'where are all my emails' report with google, but they're about as hard to get in contact with as HMRC are!

Sure you have, but have you tried the 'search anywhere' term to see if anything is hidden or labelled somewhere?

Eg
Type "in:anywhere" followed by your search terms (in your case leave blank) in the Gmail search field."in:anywhere national park", for example, finds "national" and "park" everywhere, including*Trash*and*Spam.

The only worry I'd have is that the filter was set to be applied to everything in the inbox/folders, but, as you say the storage still shows it, it seems unlikely it's *gone*

seems I need to act fast. It all seems to be in the bin after my first search 'anywhere' found a load of stuff.

Also, looking in the bin will only display one page of mail with no ability to load in any more through pagination or anything which seems odd.

FML. This is the problem with working ridiculous overtime. Stupid happens.

On the plus side, I now know lots about how to use search in Gmail.

I also now hate the maximum of 20 emails per page and the fact you can't execute commands from the search!

I've been going through my gmail too and have 'Imap/Sent' and 'Imap/Trash' why do I have these as 'Imap'? I don't understand.

Also I don't understand the difference between giving something a lable and moving it to a label (folder) apart from moving it files it away, I suppose giving it a label indicates it belongs in that folder if its still in the inbox?

Confusing!

If it helps any, you can increase the page size up to 100 items per page (Settings, General).

'Imap' is what most email software (including on your phone) uses to connect to Gmail. I don't have Imap/Sent etc., but that may be where they came from.

Oh right... so maybe the Imap boxes are the ones synced to my phone?
