tracking down game designers
Hello guys,
I am running a club in school using new software that allows pupils to design games using 2D / 3D designs. It's really fun to use. I am trying to have a big huge launch after Christmas and would like to invite a games designer into school. Has anyone got any connections or ideas of how I go about this Thanks Lynnie |

EA have offices in the Surrey area IIRC. Contact them and ask nicely.

I know someone who works for Ubisoft, albeit as a forum moderator. I'll have a word with her for you when I get the chance

So you mean a modern games designer then
You have Sony just down the road from you in Wavertree Technology Park. They most recently did Wipeout HD for the PS3. Other than that I can get you a couple of guys who did work on the Amiga and Spectrum

You may find some designers at www.gamerspress.com. It's a very good community of writers, developers and designers. There is a requests section on the forums and you might get someone from there.

Use the linkedin website.
Or alternately, use http://www.gamedevmap.com/ and you'll find out which companies are in your area. What kind of area are you looking into getting? What position? Environmental Artist, Character Artist, Concept Artist, Texture Artist, Sound Technician, Programmer, AI Programmers, Lead Artists, Producers? There are so many elements to game design. |

It's a shame really, only last month I had a friend working for Bizarre Creations in Liverpool, but he's moved to Canada.
If you tell me exactly what you want I can have a word with him and see if he can sort it out with one of his ex-colleagues and get them to see you. He was the artist side of things like me, so he would know some artists, it's just whether they can get time off. |

Thanks Carl that would be awesome
I'm after someone who can come in and talk about the process of game making. How the process starts to the actual creation of the game and Character devleopment. How do they get through each stage, is it like animated films they work from a storyboard and go from there? Thanks again |
