Default Which Software for creating a Movie on DVD

Hmm question is probably as daft as it sounds and the answer is probably just as obvious.

I have a load of video clips from my Holiday this year and want to create a movie from it. Last time around, I created it on my Mac but the battery is shoddy and transfering files between the MAC and vista are proving to be a real PIA. The Vista movie maker looks exactley what I need but it doesn't support MP4 iirc. What I liked about the Mac was that I think you can increase the resolution on it from the source files native resolution.

So in a nutshell I have a lot of small MP4 format files that are in 640 x 480 resolution that I want to make a movie with and include a good quality background and menu system. If possible I want to increase the resolution without compromising the quality. Also I want to do this without using Nero if possible. Purely from convenience I would prefer to do this on my PC rather than messing with files on the Mac.

Any Suggestions ??

Loki

A great app i use is called 'convertXtoDVD', it supports everything you want aside from good backgrounds, you are able to import a single image and use that as the background for the menu. You can't use animated background etc unfortunately.
