Default For those with Steam installed...

Uplink is available through Steam for $10.
Buy it! It's a fantastic game, very original and certainly worth $10. Works out as £6.13

The description on Steam:
Quote:
You play an Uplink Agent who makes a living by performing jobs for major corporations. Your tasks involve hacking into rival computer systems, stealing research data, sabotaging other companies, laundering money, erasing evidence, or framing innocent people.

You use the money you earn to upgrade your computer systems, and to buy new software and tools. As your experience level increases you find more dangerous and profitable missions become available. You can speculate on a fully working stock market (and even influence its outcome). You can modify peoples academic or criminal records. You can divert money from bank transfers into your own accounts. You can even take part in the construction of the most deadly computer virus ever designed.
And a review on Gamespot: http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/u...te/review.html

I'd already planned on buying this and 'The Ship.' Maybe I'll get around to it this evening.

You know....Steam is actually pretty good. I never pay for software, but with the ease of Steam and the prices involved it's stupid not to just buy it. They've got a good thing going there IMO.

Yup now they've sorted out their teething problems it's pretty good. Although it's a bit scary how easy it is to buy things
Does encourage me to do so though as usually I don't tend to pay for PC Games unless they're particularly good or I want the multiplayer aspect.

I hated Steam when I first got Half-Life 2 but having used it a fair bit I do like it.

The one thing that still annoys me with Steam is something that happened last weekend.
At a LAN where we were mainly playing Counterstrike and we had a couple of people whose copy of Steam was determined it needed the internet and we had no net there. Just had to take their PC back to someone's house just so it could connect to the net for 2 minutes then we unplugged it and it was fine.
I do wish they had a properly working LAN mode :/

Same here, the main thing for me is not having to keep hold of dvd's. Its handy just logging in somewhere and pulling down the game quickly.

I'll have a look at uplink, seems interesting
