The way I see it is that the modern economy is overstretched, and has allowed the majority of assets to increase in value unnaturally. I think the first buyout was a panic with Northern Rock, although the subsequent ones have hoped to ease the general pressure and bring stability to a system where rich people get significantly richer.
If we cancelled debts, the poor would gain an enormous amount of assets (in many cases) and the rich would lose an enormous amount of assets that they had in the form of repayment from the poor. |

Nothern rock has actually tuned out very nicely and they are doing very well. it looks liek the government will make a nice profit when hey eventually sale. So makes him seem a bit silly.
You can't just wipe peoples debts of.
