LOTR with live score by the London Philharmonic orchestra
Went last night and it was amazing. So good. The film was played on a cinema sized screen and the whole score was played in sync. Full orchestra and about 75 in the choir. The music overpowered the actual movie in places so they had subtitles (not that I needed them!). Also, there was a talk by Howard Shore and some other guy (I forget his name). They went through some of the themes and ideas of the music as well as demonstrating some of the percussion. Next time you watch the movie and they go to Orthanc, listen for the kind of jangly banging. That's someone hitting the strings of a piano with a chain!
Now for the best part: you might have missed it but the Two Towers is on next year! I've already got my tickets and I've forked out for some decent seats this time (partially restricted view last night ). Link Last edited by Wryel; 16-04-2009 at 11:25. |

Would have loved to have seen Fellowship. It's my favourite part of the story.

They're doing the same thing for Star Wars too.
