The Take
... Series on Sky 1.
Four episodes, final is tonight although I'm sure it must be on play back somewhere. Just wanted to say, bloody awesome series. Have only just managed to catch the penultimate tonight and I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens. Tis a nice mobster series, centralised on a chap called Freddy who's just been released from prison and returns to being a coked up, screwed in the head chap. It follows him and his cousin (best buds Jimmy) through a variety of dodgy dealings and set ups done through connections of a head poncho chappy currently banged up and doing time, as well as their family life (Freddy's Missus is the sister of Jimmys Missus). Good guy, bad guy style jobbo (well good guy as in as good as you get when it comes to dealing drugs). The dude who plays Freddy is an absolute gem. He should be nominated for his performance - he just captures the roll perfectly. You kind of end up hating the dude and his impulsive and uncontrollable behaviour but have this quiet hope he'll be a better man. Me thinks this won't be the case. If you're not watching it, find it and watch it. Will definitely be digging out the book for this which the whole thing was adapted from. Top notch. Proper good stuff. |
