Default Laser printer, whats wrong with it ?

We have a Lexmark E232 laser printer here, nice and simple.. recently, even after a new toner cartridge has been put in you still get light or unreadable parts towards the edge of the page.

My initial impulse was to bin it and get a new one but i've just done a search and i'm wondering if it could be the transfer roller ? They are only a few quid if it is.

Find out if you can clean the corona wire (if your printer has one) and give that a go. Take care with this as it's delicate. If that doesn't work, it'll probably be the drum (which might be the same thing as the transfer roller - I'm not sure on that).

Well, it's probably the transfer roller or the fuser but I'm more inclined to say transfer roller as fuser issues tend to be leaving marks on the page rather than faintness.

Maybe look at how much a maintenance kit for it would be, these usually consist of a set of replacement rollers (pick up and transfer) and a new fuser.

I hate fixing printers at work
