Unhappy Massa

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/8168807.stm

Felipe Massa's condition has been described as "serious but stable" following emergency surgery after he suffered skull damage and concussion.

Really hope he's recovered and back in a car soon. Freak accident but it goes to show how great the modern helmets are. There is a photo floating around that shows the damage done but as Massa is still in the helmet I won't post it.

As the article points out, twice in a few weeks of each other similar things have occurred. Hope he recovers quickly

The surgery was a success and he's expected to make a full recovery. The cut itself above his eye looked pretty gruesome, it's on the Gazzetta Dello Sport, the italian newspapers, website.

I hope he makes a full recovery, he seems like a nice guy. Just one of those crazy things .

Am keeping fingers crossed he makes a full recovery. I knew it had to be serious watching the replays because he wasnt making any attempt to steer the car away from the crash barrier, he must have already been unconscious its a testament as to how safe those crash helmits are. Get well soon Massa.

On another forum I saw a link to a picture of Massa after the accident. If you're of a sensitive disposition then it might seem a bit gruesome so please exercise some common sense. http://bit.ly/VpWkr

In a strange way though this does prove how strong a modern F1 car is. Massa was said to crash into the tyres at about 125mph yet the chassis was structually intact.

Heard on the radio this morning that they have woken him successfully from the general anaesthetic.
Wishing him well.

James Allen said on twitter that he's going to be fine, which is a relief. Ferrari have ruled out a schumacher return too
