Work Fails
I am Christmas party organiser at work along with 'Anne'. 'Katie' is from the venue finding company. We used them last year as they were a two man team and just starting out. Read bottom upwards and add your own! BB x From: Katie Sent: 21 September 2009 12:04 To: Anne Subject: RE: Christmas Party proposal 2009 Hi Anne My apologies, I just noticed I sent you an email that wasn’t regarding at your event. We are inundated with enquiries about our restaurant finding service at the moment and it’s all very stressful and complex. I meant to send that to my colleague, so many apologies if it was misinterpreted. I’m fairly sure we can find a few interesting venues that will be within your budget. As soon as we gather the info we’ll send over some ideas. Kind regards Katie From: Anne Sent: 21 September 2009 11:57 To: Katie Subject: RE: Christmas Party proposal 2009 Was this e-mail meant for me? From: Katie Sent: 21 September 2009 11:50 To: Anne Subject: RE: Christmas Party proposal 2009 Urghhh – so cannot be assed to do this. The only option is for us to find a restaurant. Let me know if you have any ideas. x From: Anne Sent: 21 September 2009 10:57 To: Katie Subject: RE: Christmas Party proposal 2009 Hi Katy We would not consider a shared party but would consider bars or restaurants. Our budget will remain at £40 per head as we have to allow for other expenses that we will incur for prizes etc. Thank you Anne From: Katie Sent: 21 September 2009 10:04 To: Anne Subject: RE: Christmas Party proposal 2009 Hi Anne I hope you had a nice weekend. Thank you for sending us your feedback about the Ambassadors Hotel. With regards to a unique venue (i.e. not a hotel), would you consider shared parties or bars/restaurants? The only reason I ask is if you are looking for an exclusive unique venue, the prices are much more expensive. We have done a few quotes for other clients with a similar amount of guests, and the lowest venue came in at £83.00 per person. I have sent out a couple enquiries to see if we can bring some rates down, but if you are still aiming at £40.00 per person, I think the only option will be to share a venue or consider hiring space at a restaurant. I know your director is currently on holiday so with regards to budget it is difficult to say at this point, but when he gets back if you could let me know what the ultimate maximum budget is and which options you are willing to consider, and we’ll do our very best to find something that is suitable. Many kind regards Katie |

I think I'd have been tempted to send that e-mail myself.
Which part of the idea that £40 is too low a budget to get a dedicated place was tricky?

She knew it was £40 budget from the start - £40 pp is better than £0 - which is what a lot of companies will be getting this year!

That's not the sort of thing you would put in an email, regardless of how you felt or who you sent it to. How unprofessional!
