Must have apps
Barely put my Hero down since Friday and been trying out quite a few apps so let me know if I've missed any out.
Android IRC The only app that I have paid for, well worth it for me as I use a private server with a group of work colleagues for SSL based badness AppManager Very good for keeping an eye on what is installed and backing up apps to the SD card Barcode Scanner Pretty cool app that may prove useful in stopping me impulse buying books/DVD if I can find them cheaper online BBC News (Jim Blackler) Provides a nifty 2x1 widget that shows the current top story beebPlayer For me this is a killer app, live TV and Radio streaming over wifi and 3G, quality over 3G isn't great and not all programs are encoded for Android yet but the BBC should be improving things as the platform takes off. DilbertDroid Arguably an app for the sake of an app as Dilbert arrives in my Inbox every morning and the app seems a bit slow to update but I likes it anyway Facebook Does exactly what it says on the tin. Facebook integration with the Hero is excellent. Layar Overlays real world information based on your location on to a video feed from the camera. Rather hard to explain but definitely worth a look and something that is going to be expanded on in the next year or so Movies - Flixster Really good app for finding film reviews and your local cinema times based on your location NetMeter - Bernhard Suter Monitors traffic throughput and CPU usage. Lots of this type of app around but this one has been the best one I've tried so far RingDroid Lets you edit your mp3s to make ringtones ScummVM Not had a chance to try it yet but what is there not to like about playing DOTT on your phone? Shazam Does exactly what it says on the tin, works well even with very quiet music So what have I missed? Last edited by Del Lardo; 06-10-2009 at 10:46. |

I was wondering what phone to get and this was one of the contenders.
The fact that it has Day of the Tentacle has killed the competition. I've just ordered one. Will it also play Sam and Max Hit The Road? That would make me very happy... |

Bansai BlastGreat little addictive game
Barcode Scanner. Does as it says on the tin. I was in tesco the other week and a price was missing, it was quicker to scan the barcode and then go on the tesco website and get the price rather than goto customer service desk |

Mystique is a 3D murder mystery type thing, spooky music and free (at least chapter 1 is, not seen any more yet. I use ScummVM to play DOTT as well The broken sword games run fine (and play well) but the save options are disabled, meant to email the dev about that. Locale rocks my world (http://www.twofortyfouram.com/product.html).
