Changing the MAC address?
Right, I can't get my router setup on the LAN here as they've actually got a way of stopping it despite what I expected. So, is there a way to change the mac address? I could do with giving it either my PC or PS3's MAC cose you don't get 3G inside here (unless my phone is docked by the window) so most things are useless without WiFi

Possibly if you were to jailbreak. Definitely not if you don't.
Can you explain the problem in more detail? It should be possible to get it working properly. |

Can you not share the wifi on the PC? So PC connects to network and phone connects to PC.

The problem is that each device has to be auth'd by MAC and my package consists of auth for PC & PS3.
I've got no wifi on my PC - both that & PS3 run cables into my router, which is running just through the switch side of things. Oh, and yes, my phone is jailbroken but I couldn't find any decent search results on if this is possible. |

Just sounds like you need a NAT solution for the lot - can you not just whack a router between you and them?

I can, but their network detects routers and I've not been able to get a work-around this year. Last year I managed to manually set the router with the settings assigned to my PC and clone the MAC

If it can detect routers but is fine with PC's, you could be sneaky ad put a wifi card in an old PC and set it up as an access point.

If the uni hardware is detecting NAT routing (which is far more likely than specifically detecting routers), then that won't work, and neither will any other form of routing that I know of.
That leaves two options: 1) A shared MAC address. Might be easier to register the iPhone's MAC and use that on the PC than the ither way around. 2) A tunnel (VPN or SSH). You need the other end of the tunnel to be outside the uni firewall/router. Home PC is one option but it'll be horrendously slow if you do that. |

alls well - a friend of mine works for our ISP and last night told me that the Extra package I paid for this year enables 2 added devices, not just the one, so now I've authenticated my phone hurrah!
