What decent wireless router for i buy for ~£40?
I want a WRT router for tomato fun, but i also want N, and this doesn't really seem easy since most of the new WRT N routers don't play nice with tomato/DD etc...
If i can't get a WRT compatible router, whats my best bet for £40 with N spec these days? I've pretty much bought WRT my last 4 routers and i haven't a clue what else is decent, all i know is the current d-link **** we've got in our flat is atrocious! |

I have a Linksys WRT54G sitting around doing nothing, its about 5 years old was going to sell it to a chap on the internet but never got round to doing it its a CDF5, got tomato running on it, was going to sell it for £10 until I found it it was sort after-ish.
Make me an offer I cant refuse. |

Ok well that wasn't quite what i expected, haha, but yeah fork it. For a tenner i'll take a hit on the "N" for now and at least have a router that blummin' well routes packets and doesn't drive me up the wall. How do you want paying fine sir, bank transfer, payal, numerous pints, love?

Tomato is much much nicer, but DD will do its essentially just a nastier looking version of tomato. I get the best of both with that router though DD with N speed

LD have you got the router yet?
If all goes well I'm planning to get our house hooked up with vFast WiMAX soon and will need a new Broadband router. I bought a WRT54GL to install at a house that my father rents out though personally I would like to get an N router for our own install. |

No haven't bought it yet, its went up £5 since then it seems though! We have a router its just totally dog **** so i can wait out for another deal to arrive. I've read good things about that little router though, i probably don't personally need N, but i don't see why not for ~£30 and you get a warranty. I've had some fair old luck with the WRT's of old, i've had two pop on me!

I might take the plunge and let you know.
I'm not sure who I will order from though as the Amazon stocked unit is 2-4 weeks delivery though slightly cheaper than the Expansys which adds on the seller delivery charge. |

I have changed my mind on ordering the Buffalo.
Browsing the DD-WRT forums for the router doesn't bring up much positive reading. In addition to the above, I don't know yet if I will be getting our vFast connection installed (pending the site survey to see if we have line of sight to the nearest repeater/base station). I almost ordered a WRT54GL but I would prefer something more up to date. I have read a few reports that the Linksys isn't suited for those people who are upgrading there Virgin Media connections to 20mb plus (vFast are testing 25mb download speeds at the moment and I would be tempted to upgrade if and when it's available).
