Data retention eh?
Really not happy. Virgin (formerly blueyonder) have now moved their service onto google. What I haven't seen anywhere is the fact that they have kept a copy of every single email since 2004!!! Now it is on google. i know this as I am currently pulling down a copy of every email since then.
Good thing I didn't use my private email for financial stuff that while fairly boring I wouldn't want passed around the likes of google edit:- FFS it is EVERY email on EVERY blueyonder account, wtf?! |

Thanks, I will write to them. The emails are hosted on your own googlemail account. But this does raise serious questions such as, for what reason did they retain all emails from 2002? There must be parts of the DPA or Telecommunications act that they fall foul of.

No, basically VM email is being moved to GMail, so it is effectively a GMail account with an @virginmedia.com address.
I guess when you migrate an old/existing account, the Google system goes off and fetches every email ever from a VM POP/IMAP server or something.
