Getting a Blackberry 9700 Bold would be very tempting in that offer for me if I had the money

No DONT DO IT! I fell for a quidco o2 simplicity deal in october. £100+ cashback for 12x£20, 800 mins 1600 texts plus bolt on. It all sounds great, but o2's network is just shoddy. I'd been with them before and thought they were ok, but i'd became accustomed to t-mobile. Loads of simple things o2 cannot get right. Texts just get lost for short periods of time, t-mobile NEVER did this, o2 don't use real delivery messages, i don't mind too much but as a phone operator how can they not do this? T-mobile managed! I know its a cliche as well, but call quality and reliability are definitely worse, since i'm using the exact same phone the only thing i changed was operator. Now its not bad enough for me to leave or think of leaving early, and its still technically "a good deal". But in hiondsight, i'd rather save the money, or lose a few mins as have stuck with my T-Mobile solo plan, io think they were offering me a few hudred of each less for the same 12 months and cashback. I can't wait to move

//Edit: Voda are doing similar deals, and in some cases cheaper ones. My mum recently got a £10pm contract with £75 cashback i think, worked out to something stupid like £2.50 a month for 12 months with 300 mins 800 texts etc...

Thing is everyone has entirely different experiences of network providers so imo it's a bit of a lottery.

I've been with O2 for 2 years now and never had a problem with them.

Never had a problem with T-Mobile's service either admittedly however network coverage was a lot poorer for where I lived/worked/went regularly so I dropped them as soon as possible.

To me it's a bit like comparing banks. Every time someone asks what soandso bank is like, half a dozen people say it's terrible and half a dozen people say it's the best bank ever for them.

Well o2's coverage is excellent, i can't deny but reliability is a different matter. T-mobile on the other hand, if you can get a signal you're sorted probably with 3g too which is a rare on o2 unless you're city centre. Also o2 doesn't even have a 7.2 HSDPA plan? T-mobile had that like 2 years ago! T-mobile are also merging with orange which will up them *even* more. I'm not saying i can't put up with o2, but in comparison i can see which is definitely worse. Also considering i've used both contracts with the same phone between Aberdeen (Girlfriend) Edinburgh (Uni) Liverpool (Home) and many inbetween, i can say for sure i'd rather stick with T-mobile! This is all still "up north" though

I'm not denying your problem
Just saying that it seems to be a matter of luck and/or where you live. Not everyone has terrible problems with o2, much the same as not everyone has the problems I had with T-Mobile!

Can't say either way with 3g though as my iPhone's the 2g variety.

Edit: I tend to stick with local opinion admittedly when it comes to service reliability. But I live in an area with plenty of wide, open spaces like the Gower where networks such as T-Mobile and Orange seem to be abysmal and 3g is a mere dream.

Vodafone is excellent though. My Mum's with them and has had a very cheap sim only deal for a while now.

I'd had no problems with O2 in Liverpool for reliability of messages etc, though I'll admit their 3G coverage is pretty poor. Still, I don't use the internet much unless I'm on the wireless at home, so it's never a real issue for me. They're infinitely better than Orange were for me, had tons of issues with them.
