I can't think of anyone off the tip of my head from up there but I hope all are well. Looks like it's over a huge area.

Don't think we have anyone in the vicinity but nonetheless it's shocking and scary.
![]() The inevitable comparisons with Dunblane and Hungerford have already started. While I wasn't here at the time, I do live close to the latter now and I can imagine feelings must be somewhat raw in the area. ![]() |

Aye, it's not good news at all. Was listening to a guy on the radio earlier who was in the pub in Boot. They got a call from the police saying the guy was heading their way and he was trying to get everyone inside. They were watching the news on TV and also keeping an eye on the windows at the same time. Must have been pretty damn scary.

Friend of mine's from Whitehaven and all his family are there. Fortunately they were all ok. Bit of an unnerving time for him this morning though, especially as he had trouble getting in touch with his Dad for a while!
Truly awful ![]()

Awful. Truly awful.
I have family in Cumbria and my dad was born there. It is a very rural area, quiet and one of the safest places to live in the country. It is carnage on an unimaginable scale. I heard some of our cops have been drafted over to help as we border Cumbria. One victim was 66 and out delivering catalogues when Bird passed by and shot her dead. What a selfish and twisted bastard.

It must be a shocking and surreal experience for all those touched by this.

While Cumbria covers quite a large area and is the fifth biggest force by area in England & Wales, they don't have many cops at around 1200.
The response looked excellent though from what I have seen. Some reporters got on my tits though. ' Will there be a trial ? ' Highly unlikely. Criticism of ambulance as well but they will not go into a danger zone without it being pacified by police and righyly so.
