need book suggestions
I seem to split my reading between war books, currently reading A Million Bullets: The Real Story of the British Army in Afghanistan.
And fictions series Lee child - Jack Reacher series Jack Higgins - Sean Dillion series Matthew Reilly - Shane Schofield series & Jack West Junior series Andy Remic - Spiral series And ok series James Rollins - Sigma force series Vince Flynn - Mitch Rapp series Now finding war books is easy, but it is so hard trying to find a new series which trace the same hero in a reasonably easy to read style. Anyone got any suggestion, or other than browsing waterstones(it never works) how I would find suitable series. But I browse for war books and find hundreds which sound really good.

It's not war in the sense of army but for historical naval fiction you could do a lot worse than Patrick O'Brian who is best known for his books about Jack Aubrey & Stephen Maturin.
Apparently the Sharpe series of books by Bernard Cornwell are also good but I can't recall reading any to confirm this and they may not be modern enough for you.

'Sniper One' by Dan Mills is a good read, it's about a sniper group out in Iraq. It's quite easy reading so it probably won't take you long to get through but it's very well written and in places quite amusing.
