Yeah - believe it or not to pass your ratings you have to hit an X 5 times consecutively among 5 other tasks.

Packing parachute
Detangling Parachute
5 Declared landings
Spotting (i.e. working out when and where to jump out of the plane)
Pre jump parachute checks

The guy they had parachuting has apparently not missed the x in over 800 landings.
