Default Today I...

Changed the battery on my car! (With help on the phone from my bro).

Sorry I know this isn't a hard thing to do, but I seriously thought I wouldn't be able to do it so feel like I have accomplished something

Car batteries are heavy sons of bitches though - took a wheely luggage case to Halfords to cart it back on the bus but still - was a bit of a work out getting up the hill.

Took the car out on a run and he seems fine

Probably had something to do with the car alarm randomly going off, as as the battery power drained, the central locking got slower and slower till it stopped working altogether, but the car alarm still seemed to work.

Haven't posted in motors for a while... just to warn you you may see more of my - my bro bought me Cars for Dummies for Christmas!

Changing a battery can be a pig - and if you do it wrong you can cause serious damage to yourself and/or the car -

so well done

Top tip - don't drop a spanner so that it shorts over the battery terminals.

Or use your tongue to do the same a la PP3 batteries.

Mind you if you can get your tongue over both terminals....

Yeah... glad I didn't drop anything - worst thing would be dropping my phone and getting it lost in the engine :/

My dad told me a story once of when he was overseeing a telephone exchange being put in, and one of the installers dropped a reasonably chunky spanner across the output terminals of the battery back up bank (think lots and lots of car batteries) - the spanner flashed instantly into a puddle of molten steel and gave the installer sunburn

@ Nutcase!

My bro did say the connections might spark when I connected the -ve back on, but luckily it didn't.

My dad was well proud when I spoke to him just now!
