Default R.I.P - Gary Moore, 1952-2011

One of my true guitar heroes has passed away today

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-12377862

I remember first hearing Parisienne Walkways on a classic rock album and falling in love with his guitar tone and the way he could make it scream.

It was one of the reasons I learned to play the electric guitar, and I'll never forget that.
I learned the song as quick as I could and still enjoy playing it.

Actually quite upset to read about this

A fabulous guitarist, "Still Got The Blues" is still one of my favourite guitar songs, he'll be sadly missed.

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Oh noooooooooooooo

This is incredibly sad news - Travelling Wilbury's, Thin Lizzy, BB King and many other collaborations were all superb and a testimant to his beautiful 'guitar voice'. As mentioned by SInc, some of his solo work, Parisienne Walkways especially, was so powerful and evocative.

I remember watching countless 'learn guitar with Gary Moore' videos with his tips & tricks helping overcome beginners problems etc.

Very sad news.
