The best instrumental ever.
I was listening to Mark Riley on Radio 6 Music last night (as one does) and he played Sylvia by Focus claiming it to be the best instrumental ever.
Even though Thijs van Leer does make some vocal-sort-of-noise, I'd still count that as an instrumental. Perhaps I'm a bit of an old hippy at heart but I reckon I might agree with him. Whack it on, turn up the volume, enjoy the funny Dutchmen and see what you think.

I liked it, but I'm a bit more of a fan of the blues guitar for instrumentals:

Nothing like a good old yodel in preparation for an interview!
I'm not proposing the following as 'the best ever instrumental' but instrumentals always make me think of Orion by Metallica, and this group are almost entirely instrumental from just two guitars so I think it fits in with this thread quite well
