Finally dragged my Mum into the 21st Century
So my mum has joined the modern world, and now has a Samsung Galaxy ace.
Being that I'm an iPhone whore, I know nothing about these phones really, can someone give me/her some hints and tips about them. Also first question, she doesn't yet have any Internet on her contract (am going to talk her into it) but is there a way to stop it giving her a big bill in the meantime, this may seem silly, just I'm used to the "always on" iPhone, and needing to set notifications how I want them. Do I need to do similar with this. Any useful info would be fab thanks. |

Settings - Accounts and Sync - Deselect Background Dada and Auto-Sync
Then open each of the listed accounts and remove the ticks from various sync options. Should stop it connecting. You'll need to force it to sync over wifi though. There is a way to only allow it to sync over wifi, but I'm buggered if I can remember how at the moment. The other thing you can do is go into the quick settings *if you have it* by pulling down the notifications and selecting quick settings and unticking Mobile Network. That'll disable the data connection completely

Settings - Language and keyboard - select input method.
Should show Samsung Keyboard or Swype I certainly recommend going through the tutorial.

If you hold the power button you should have a screen pop up
from here you can enable or disable data (as in all mobile data connections), more simple than disabling auto sync etc... That way it will still auto sync whilst connected to wifi, which is nicer i think, as it still "works" but only when youre not paying for data! |

Oh i assumed touchwiz was the same on all samsung models, maybe not! I assumed the power button always acted like follows:
Short press = lock Long press = Power Menu Extra Long (10+ i think) = hardware forced reset |
