Default Need a Tumble Dryer...

Hi All,

It's come to that time of year where we can't dry the clothes inside anymore and any laundry has to go to the laundrette dryers at a cost of a about £5 per week! (the dryers here are a lot more than in Portsmouth )

I figure the cost of running a home dryer is high, but not that high, and after a while it'll have paid for itself.

Can anyone recommend a good condenser dryer, on a good budget of <£300 the lower the better without compromising on quality

Cheers

Matt.

Well I have a Bosch one that has been shoved in the garage for 4 years and it hasn't blown up. I tend to use this site as a rough starting point when looking for stuff:-

I think mine was £300 ish.

I was looking at a Bosch one this morning actually, I think 4 years is a good time and at that point it's payed for itself and the convenience is so much better than hefting stuff to the laundrette.

They're probably all much of a muchness and you'll get good and bad in all makes. Our Hotpoint is about 5 years old now and just keeps chugging along.

Couldn't help you with make buuuut whatever you do get, get a pair of balls too! (fnar fnar!)

They're tumble drying balls... about ten squid each and they help mix up the clothes/bedding/towels when you're tumbling them and do take half the time to dry!

/saving tip of the day

Just done a load at the laundrette and found out they're upping their price in december from 50p for 8 minutes to 50p for 6 minutes

Time to get looking for one quickly!

Seems like the A rated ones are half the cost to run than the B rated ones. might fork out the extra for an A rated one

Cheers for the tip on the balls

I just bought one a few weeks back!

We did have a White Knight one and it lasted 10 years with onky the filter needing to be repleced (external fluff filter so easy peasy!) in the whole 10 years, replacement costing about a tenner, so was a fab buy! Was this one:

It finally gave up the ghost 2 months ago, and as my kitchen is now all black I replaced it with this little baby which was on offer at the time, plus I bought through Quidco, costing me a grand total of £197 (incl delivery) without Quidco moneyback. I chose this one because it takes a big 8kg load - vital withthe amount of washing that gets done here!
