Default Daylight robbery

So a little while back I kind of misjudged a gap whilst passing a parked car and our wing mirrors had and brief liason.

Whilst it was dark and I could easily have just buggered off, I did the decent thing and went back to inspect the damage and knock the door. His mirror was totally smashed off and in various small pieces in the road. Mine was still attached but the glass was smashed and the casing cracked at the back. Aside from that it still worked, the mirror adjustment and folding mechanism working fine.

Costs to repair? He got a complete new replacement wing mirror for his Citroen Xsara Picasso for £35. How much did Audi want just to repair mine? £465 !!!

This is just outrageous. I know the parts and labour are going to be more expensive with the German marques but seriously! I was expecting £200-300 but £465!?

My own damn fault of course. Will be a darn site more careful in the future and make sure I fold them every time I park from now on.

Got my replacement wing mirror (5 ish years back) from eBay. Twas only 50 quid. Only downside was it was just the mirror and the casing, and since then the electrics haven't been in use to control it cos they wanted nearly 300 quid to replace the whole unit. I now just use my hand to move the glass, instead of a button.

Yeah between eBay and a decent Scrapyard (a rarity now days) I usually find everything I want/need.

Unfortunately it's a lease car so needs to be fixed properly with genuine parts. I thought about taking the scrappy route but finding a casing of the right colour and the right glass would have been nigh on impossible. The glass is dimming and and that alone was £200!

All fixed now and the company will pay for it but still.

Is that all Citroen dealers are charging to supply and fit a wing mirror?
Bargain of the century.

Nah that was off ebay, the guy said he was happy to source one from there and fit it himself, which was lucky.
