Default New phone advise for those in the know :)

I've decided my iPhone 3GS is getting a bit old and battered now and I'd like a nice shiny new toy

Unfortunately I have no idea what phones that are out now are any good or if there's any good ones due out soon.(except someone mentioned that there's a new sony one due out with quad core proc and 1Gb ram)

I usually just use for a bit of mobile gaming, web surfing and texting.

Any input will be appreciated

Thanks

iPhone 4S
Galaxy S2
Galaxy S3 (soonish)
Lumia 800
HTC Sensation

Those are worth looking at IMO

^^ Pretty much WHS

I have an old HTC Desire that is on its last legs. I am waiting for the new Galaxy S3 as it seems silly to get an S2 with the new phone in a couple of months.

I would imagine Samsung or HTC have a decent Windows based offering too but i've had no interest in that OS so not paid any attention to what is available in terms of competing hardware.

Really comes down to which OS you prefer. I've got a Galaxy S2 for personal use, a Lumia 800 for work and regularly use an iPhone 4, if fact I have all three sat in front of me at the moment.... Personally my favorite is the S2, the Lumia 800 is far better than I thought it would be, there is no getting away from the fact that the application store is far more limited though so far the only app that I'd want is Audible, you are also limited to 16GB memory with no expansion slot. The iPhone, well there's no getting away from the fact that it is a very good bit of kit and if you've already spent money on Apps then you may need to buy them again if you move to another platform but IMO the UI is the worst of the three (it was game changing a few years ago but the competition has caught up) and I simply despise iTunes whether it's on a Windows or OSX, Zune on Windows is a breath of fresh air in comparison.

If you want to buy now then I'd take the Sensation off the list but add the HTC Titan (Windows), it was my preferred Windows phone but wasn't given the choice.

If you can wait then I think you'd be mad not to wait to see what the Galaxy S3 running Ice Cream Sandwich is like though by then the iPhone 5 could be just around the corner as well

Yeah the Galaxy S3 does look nice but I had a quick look at a couple of forums and the speculation on release date is anywhere between 4 weeks and 6 months from now.

Don't know if I can be bothered waiting 6 months for a new phone.

Decisions decisions
