Crystal Palace light show [pics]
To mark the end of a broadcasting era in London and the switch-off of the analogue television signal, Arqiva put on a light show from the Crystal Palace tower. There was a 'do' in the park as well, with Chris Evans apparently, but it looked to be corporate only. For such a big event it went completely unpublicised and the park was pretty much deserted. If you were wondering what it looked like then I took some snaps
Sadly for them, there was low cloud cover and misty rain all last night, which pretty much killed off the light show. I started at the top of the multi-storey carpark near me but couldn't see much and decided to take a drive up to the park instead, for a closer look. There were three powerful search lights about halfway up the tower and the tower itself was illuminated, cycling from yellow to blue to pink. From the top of the multi-storey in Beckenham: The base of the tower, taken from the car along Crystal Palace Parade: Then into the park, and these were taken on the steps that led up to the original Crystal Palace: The Sphynxes were lit in green: And then these were on the flat bit where you normally stand to see the fireworks display: Considering the conditions and the fact that they were taken by hand with a compact camera, I'm surprised these came out at all. Credit to whoever made the camera
