Does anyone actually care about the BNP Weekend aka. The Jubilee?
Bored of it already and it's not even started yet, one of the most mind boggling painful marketing efforts I can think of (yes I will buy some washing up liquid because it has the Queen on it) and Miss DL is stuck working so I can't even leave the country.
Still on the plus side two extra days of drinking available. |

Any excuse for a party as far as I'm concerned. People are happy, people are enjoying the sunshine, lots of people are celebrating part of their country's heritage, which, whether people agree with it or not, is still a major feature of this country and something we do better than anyone else, imo. What's not to like? Have fun, enjoy, be positive!

Although it's not going to make a huge difference to me personally (Monday not a public holiday in Scotland and Tuesday not getting off as it's normal working day for NHS Highland). |

The temporarily renaming of Kingsmill to "Queensmill" and marmite to "ma'amite" are ingenious!
I also wanna get some Jubilee M&M's (red white and blue only) Its got nothing to do with the BNP who have hijacked our flag, so that people only see it as BNP related now sadly. Looking forward to seeing my lovely friends this weekend, and then a party at my sisters on Monday. |

I'm quite happy with it but then I get eleven days off in a row for the price of four, that's decent enough. I'll get to go home, see the folks and some mates who I've not seen for a while plus celebrate a couple of peoples birthdays.
I don't expect I'll be doing anything particularly special to celebrate the Jubilee itself but it certainly doesn't bother me that it's happening.

I sort of agree it's one of the few times people are actively patriotic, but being a vehement republican I'm just going to embrace the advantage of living in the monarchy and enjoy the days off. In fact we're off to France to really escape!
