Got my VM upgrade early! :)
After the checker changed from "July onwards" to "December to May" the other day, I called VM to express my annoyance.
Granted the upgrade is free but it's more than a little annoying when I'm always near the end of these upgrade schedules and others, some very local to me, were upgraded in March or April. I explained all of this to the nice lady on the phone and she said I could have the upgrade immediately. Result

Stupid Up to 20Mb service on a crappy line that can barely manage 8 :\

I wish they could provide 30MB reliably. Speed test always says that I get it, but even iPlayer struggles sometimes. :/
That being said, I discovered a network configuration issue on my work laptop (which I sometimes bring home) a few days ago and haven't tested again since I fixed that. |

Yeah slightly do agree there, I don't quite see 100mb often enough for them to call it that IMO, but I *do* hit it sometimes and when its slow it's still staggeringly fast. I also fear that it's actually a mix of OpenWRT my router and netbook that might be restricting me. As plugging in sometimes gives me better but not always perfect results either...
I do have my modem in "modem" mode which I thought would help but not yet! |

I will be putting mine in modem mode soon when I can get a dual band router, might get an airport express base station for £79

I'd like another Draytek, but given the kitchen, roof, Olympics and Paralympics, that sort of thing is well down the priority list right now.
At least I've had a proper Cat5 run put in between the Superhub and home office now so the unsightly botch-job has gone. Not that it'll make any difference to speed. |

I used to use a Linksys WRT54GS with the Tomato firmware with my old modem but, when I upgraded to the Superhub, there was no modem mode as yet so had to use that alone. I planned to re-instate the Linksys when they released the modem-only update but frankly I've not seen the need as the Superhub seems pretty stable for me.
Not even sure whether the Linksys would handle 60Mb reliably as it's fairly old now. I quite fancy a 5th gen Airport Extreme as we have one in the office and it's a very good piece of kit but it's £100+ for no real reason at present. That said, I only really use wireless for mobile devices such as phones, tablets, iPods & netbooks so I'm not depending on it heavily.
