Default 8x agp gfx card?

Its a long shot - but im experimenting with building a linx box for school projects but my gfx card is dying (radeon 9600) and isnt well supported with linux either. Does anyone happen to have a spare agp card they may be willling to donate? I know its old technology now!!

Sorry for the cheekiness!

I might have something I can send your way.

The postage won't be cheap, though, as it has a brick of a heatsink!

Sadly Linux support is falling apart for AGP cards. nVidia not long ago even pulled support for a load of PCI-e cards (including mine, though I have 12 months breathing room there).

I have a few old AGP cards, but save the one I'm still using, they're Radeon 9600-era, or older, so likely to be equally unsupported.

Really?! Whats the next thing after pci-e?

So is it worth just sticking withthe old 9600? Google seems to suggest its just the 9600 from that era that isnt supported. I think all it means is the visual effects in ubuntu or debian environments wont run... maybe?

Nothing after PCI-E yet, though we're on V3 of PCI-E now. Mark was just saying nVidia have dropped support for early PCI-E cards, never mind the prehistoric AGP stuff that came before it.
